If you are a Missouri Resident that will be carrying in Kansas  you should seriously consider attending my 2 hour Kansas legal module so you know the Kansas laws that you MUST obey to stay out of trouble and out of jail.  You will get the Kansas CCH manual and 2 hour session for $35.  You can attend the session anytime I am hosting a Kansas class.  KS  CCH laws are much different than MO CCW laws and many that are not a criminal violation in MO ARE in Kansas.  The small fee if well worth the peace of mind.

The Official Kansas Attorney Generals site is adding CCW documents and content.  Click here to visit that site.

Visit the Kansas Dept. of Revenue website.

Disqualifiers-The things that can disqualify you from obtaining a Kansas CCH license are listed in the Statutes as well as on the application itself.

Why take a course with me when I am located in Missouri?  Experience! Kansas law specifies that an instructor can be an NRA Basic Pistol Instructor and certify residents for a  KS CCH license after approval of the AG.  This is a beginner instructor rating, experience can be as little as having been to an instructor class last month for less than 2 days, investigate your instructor.   Does he have a real business, instructor insurance, quality class use guns and safety gear for class use, sufficient staff to train you safely, and a willingness to train you--not just let you fail.  The original recommendation in Kansas was that instructors should offer refunds if the student did not pass.  Many instructors balked at this, so it was not made a regulation.  My class is 100% money back if you are not satisfied for any reason.  My goal is that every student pass without cutting any corners.  In Missouri I have met this goal for 4+ years.  Your Kansas shooting standards are slightly harder, but to date I have maintained that record with Kansas students as well.

In addition to the state certificate does your prospective instructor give you a certificate that you can frame and use as proof that you have been to a basic firearms safety course so you can take a more advanced course from other instructors that may have such prerequisites?  I give you a professionally bound manual of the Kansas CCH Statutes and Regulations and other pertinent Kansas Concealed Carry information to keep.

My prices reflect my experience level, my commitment to using top of the line training equipment, hiring enough competent certified staff to run a safe classroom and range, and giving you a course that you can be proud you attended.  I make no apologies for that and refuse to be caught up in a pricing war with instructors operating a business without proper training, support tools, staff, advanced certifications and insurance for their students safety.  This dollar barn mentality allows them to charge dollar barn prices for dollar barn training.  I think that everyone intelligent enough to want to protect themselves or their families knows that you get what you pay for, and that there are no free rides, especially when dealing with these life and death issues.

Is he confident enough to offer a 100% money back guarantee of your satisfaction?  If you are involved in a Deadly Force encounter your training WILL be an issue, don't pick an instructor based on saving a few dollars or having to drive a few miles.  You would not buy a Saturday night special for a Deadly Force encounter, why do the same for such an important first step?

Before selecting an instructor look at my qualifications  and give me a chance to meet or exceed your training expectations.  Do you know of any other instructors that have as much free information posted as I provide?  Can you email and call them before or after a class with questions, if you can't what kind of instructor do you think they will be in class?  Instructors that use quality materials, certified staff, excellent credentials, proper insurance, and quality training locations will have expenses that require them to charge a moderate, but fair price.  If you are pricing an instructor that seems much lower than the average, ask yourself where he is cutting corners, because if you go with him you may find out too late.

The fight won't be the way you WANT it to be---it will be the way it is, pick an instructor who knows this first hand from having been there and done that.  I have, and I can impart some of this in our short time together.  Having survived Lethal Force encounters does not make me a hero or even an expert.  It does allow me to teach from an advantage point that many instructors have never experienced.

Visit KansasConcealedCarry.com for some great discussions on Concealed Carry, Kansas laws and  related gun issues.

This site, while Missouri based is also a great resource as they have been discussing and actually carrying for over 4 years now: MissouriCarry.com.

Live to far away to take the class without a hotel?  Look here for nearby accommodations and places for the family to visit.  I can provide a ride back to the hotel if within 5 miles of the range as most listed are, so the family can have the car to use while you are in training.

Another benefit of taking my class is the ability to apply for a Florida permit after the training.  But you just told me it would not be recognized for a Kansas resident in Kansas.  True it will not be recognized in your state for you, even if your AG at some future point recognizes it for non-residents.  So where is the benefit?  Your law won't allow you to carry until you are licensed after Jan., 1st, 2007.  If you take my class you will be able to apply for a Kansas License and carry after it is issued in Jan. 2007.  You can immediately apply for a Florida non-resident permit and carry everywhere it is recognized such as Missouri.  In addition it is recognized in over 20 states and your Kansas permit will take a couple of years to reach this level of recognition.

What to Bring to Class

  • 50 rounds of factory ammo-No reloads due to a KS state regulation

  • A Positive Learning attitude :)

Available Class Guns

Shooting Proficiency Test

Course of Fire: 25 rounds- Targets: FBI TQ-15 or IALEFIQ only

5 rounds fired from 3 yards-one handed

5 rounds fired from 7 yards-freestyle-repeat for a total of 10 rounds

5 rounds fired from 10 yards-freestyle-repeat for a total of 10 rounds

In my class you may retest if you fail at Instructors discretion and if time allows-I will allow retests.  I will consider it a failure to instruct if I can't get you qualified and I don't intend to fail.  Logically some people may not be able to qualify class day, even after a retest.  You can come back and try again for only a small range fee.

The instructor has the option of which of the two authorized targets to use.  The choices are the FBI TQ-15 and the IALEFI-Q.  The TQ-15 has a scoring area of 14X16 inches and 18 shots of the 25 must hit within this area to pass.  The IALEFI-Q is a bottle shaped target that has a long 26 1/2 area by a narrow 12 1/4th area.  Due to its bottle shape the 12 1/4th is the widest area and it narrows at the top substantially and less so at the bottom.  It has been my experience that the TQ-15 offers beginner shooters the best target area since they tend to have a larger group centered around the aiming point.  The bottle shape would not be as advantageous in my opinion to beginner shooters since most do not sting their shot laterally.  I present this info only so tat those who chose can practice before class on the size targets we will use.  For class I will be using the FBI TQ-15, but will try to have some of the IALEFI-Q's on hand as well.  Remember you can retest.

I offer a 100% moneyback offer for any reason in lieu of the course completion certificate.  I will not endanger my instructor license and pass an unsafe or unqualified person, but I have never in over 600 students not been able to get a student to a point of passing.
